Yale University - Leigh Hall
The renovated Leigh Hall serves as the primary faculty studio/office facility for the School of Music, accommodating the keyboard, string and woodwind faculty, as well as the history, composition, theory, hearing and jazz/orchestration faculty. The Dean’s suite and three music classrooms are also located in the building.
BRB developed three renovation options, each of which included detailed scope, cost, and phasing information Eventual alterations of the 30,000 sf facility included upgrades to the building envelope, HVAC system, acoustical systems, fire alarm system, lighting power and data, toilet rooms, and elevator. Comprehensive upgrades to the building envelope included repairs to the pitched slate and flat roofs, new energy efficient metal windows that remain historically faithful to the existing gothic-style fenestration, and repair and replacement of damaged façade stone work. Where we could not restore the original leaded glass windows, our careful documentation enabled us to design historically-accurate replacements.
